2009 INDIAN FAIR DAYS & POW WOW CONTESTANT APPLICATION

 

Dear Contestant: The following are the Rules for Selling tickets and Important Dates of Contestant activities. This year’s theme is “Rhythm of the Red Man”    Please make sure that you invite your sponsor Indian Fair Days. You will be given 10 books of tickets to start with. (Each book contains 20 tickets.) Please make sure that your name is on the back of each book of tickets. Tickets are $1.00 each (pre-sale) $20.00 for a book.

Ticket books will be checked out to you. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR TICKETS. Any tickets you do not turn in, you will pay for. You many turn in your tickets any day the museum is open – please call ahead so we will be ready for you. Each contestant is to have a sponsor. Sponsors will be asked to cover any missing tickets and reimburse the museum if a contestant cannot.

Please let people know why you are selling these tickets – all proceeds support The Sierra Mono Museum promoting cultural development and appreciation of Mono Indian Culture. The tickets you are selling are good one-day admission either Saturday 8/1 or 8/2/09. Presale tickets are $1.00 –gate admission will be $6.00. Each ticket is entered into a drawing for special prizes. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

The Museum will have a float for all the contestants to ride on – Please be in Full Regalia.

 

The Sierra Mono Museum Indian Fair Days & Pow Wow

July 31, August 1st, & August 2nd, 2009  The Contestants  asked to help with set up of  the Recreation Center, Friday, August 31st at 5 p.m. Saturday, August 1st you should be at the Recreation Center no later than – 11:00 a.m.– help with set up, help at the gate, announcing, handing out awards, etc. You must be in full regalia all day Saturday & Sunday or you will forfeit your 15%

 

Sierra Mono Museum Membership Dinner

                November [date TBA] 12:00 p.m 3:30 p.m.

                Kennedy Hall, North Fork School

                Contestants will help with raffle, serving dinner, cakewalk and clean up

                You will receive a free dinner.

 

      

Thanks to all of the contestants. Please remember to respect each other - everyone is trying to sell tickets. This is a great community service and the Museum and we appreciate all your efforts. All proceeds go directly to the Sierra Mono Museum.

Please read and sign the following application COMPLETE IT AND BRING IT with you to the museum to receive your first batch of tickets.

Sierra Mono Museum, 2009 Indian Fair Days & Pow Wow Committee

 

  1. All contestants must have a sponsor who is approved by the Pow Wow Committee prior to tickets issued.
  2. Must be of Native American descent, be between 2 -17 years old;
  3. Must be drug and alcohol free;
  4. All contestants must be available to attend all Sierra Mono Museum Events and Functions for ‘09/10 year including, but not limited to: Indian Fair Days & Pow Wow, SMM annual Membership Dinner in November, North Fork Logger’s Jamboree Parade, SMM Open House;
  5. Should circumstances warrant, registration and/or loss of reigning  position will result in the crown or headband being handed down to next runner up;
  6. The reigning contestant will be provided with the headband or crown to own after their one year reign;
  7. Pre-sale tickets will be sold for the Sierra Mono Museum Indian Fair Days to determine the winner of each category;
  8. All qualifying contestants will receive 15% of their ticket sales; all tickets must be turned in neatly and match funds. Ticket books will be issued in sequence and in batches of TWENTY;
  9. All monies and tickets must be turned in by 6:00 pm July 27, 2009 at the Sierra Mono Museum. All monies and tickets turned in after the deadline will not be counted towards the contest. No Exceptions will be made. Checks will not be accepted to cover lost tickets NO EXCEPTIONS
  10. No one besides the contestant, the contestant’s parent/ guardian, and/or sponsor will be allowed in the building while tickets are being counted.
  11. Tickets unaccounted for will be deducted from the contestant’s sales. Sponsor, contestant, and /or parent must pay for the unaccounted tickets to prevent deduction from sales. Should the amount of tickets missing be more that the submitted sales, restitution for tickets must be made or legal action will be taken against the contestant’s Parent and/or legal guardian. Contestant’s Parents and/or legal guardian are fully responsible for all lost or stolen tickets and monies. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  12. Contestants who do not meet the deadline and/or rules will be disqualified at the discretion of the Indian Fair Days Committee and will lose 15% of sales;
  13. The contestant winners will be required to be in full regalia at all times during Indian Fair Days and other Sierra Mono Museum functions upon request by the Sierra Mono Museum;
  14. Each Contestant will be given ten [10] ticket books to start and at a time. The amount of tickets turned in will be the amount of tickets issued;
  15. Tickets may be turned on any business day at the museum – please call staff ahead of time if possible. Tickets must be in order and match money to be issued new books; this is the contestant’s responsibility.
  16. Candidates will not be eligible if previous balances are not paid in full from previous years.
  17. The Pow Wow Committee must approve all candidates and sponsors.
  18. Contestants who drop out of competition prior to July 27, 2009 will be required to turn in all unsold tickets and money from tickets sold. Tickets are non-transferable.
  19. Contestants should update the Museum at least once a month until July 27, 2009 on sales and to have tickets issued. Contestants may contact the museum to have tickets issued at any time – please call to let Lindsay Bethel: 877-2115
  20. You will forfeit your 15% if your tickets do not match tickets issued to you for 2009
